The objectives : to protect journalists, not to prevent becoming spokesmen of organized crime. Media organizations signed the Agreement for the coverage of the violence.

Encourage participation and citizen complaints.
The media should encourage the public to denounce the criminals and to participate, within its area, crime prevention and reduction of violence. This, of course, without putting ones self at risk from criminals.

Protect journalists.
Each medium must establish protocols and measures for the safety of journalists and reporters that cover news on organized crime, such as reporter name would be anonymous, have joint coverage with other media and not report live from the most violent areas. solidarity against any threat or action against reporters and media.

Do not interfere in the fight against organized crime.
The media should not spread information that threatens the viability of operations and operations against organized crime or that jeopardize the lives of its attackers or their families.

This does not mean that the media stop to monitor the issue. Nor that we give up our responsibility to question the effectiveness of government action against organized crime. Our spaces will remain open to criticism of government strategies herein, or in other areas of government.
