Mexico, DF. The pursuit of organized crime groups to control territory and expand the drug market have caused the “brutal , irrational and stupid violence” in various parts of the country, said President Felipe Calderon.
As he led for the first time a meeting of the National Council Against Addictions (Conadic), he also said the spiral of violence call also be attributed to the change in the behavior of criminals, motivated by the increase in income per capita of the population and the number of young people in the country.
He stressed that at least half of Mexicans are under 26 years of age and are a vulnerable group for addictions.
The “Conadic” event brought together some of the federal cabinet, including the interior minister, Alejandro Poire, the Attorney General’s Office, Marisela Morales, head of government and the Federal District, Marcelo Ebrard.
There he presented the 2011 activity report of the National Council Against Addictions.
