Mexico, Brazil and the United States could be world-wide powers in deep water oil drilling, according to the information that slightly I synthesize and that as far as Mexico say: “Of a total of 54 billion barrels of crude equivalent, 55 percents -29,5 billion barrels are located in deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico. “But it could have more deep water resources.
The Oil consultants consider the volume of reserves of Mexico, in that zone, 45 billion barrels… In fact, they consider that Braziland the United States and Mexico like the countries with greater deep water potential at world-wide level “… If we could take advantage of these resources, Mexico could revert the declination and to even increase its production of crude “.

Mexico estimates that there could be between 30 and 100 billion barrels of crude in its Gulf zone, an area of 575,000 square kilometres, at depths of between 1,000 and 3,200 metres.
In the last five years, the state oil monopoly Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) has drilled only six exploratory wells, at 500 and 1,000 metres below sea level, but it has neither the technical know-how nor the financial resources to start extraction, nor to develop activities at greater depths.
