    Passport For Mexico

American citizens traveling into Mexico now have the Passport cards For Mexico and an option of getting a less expensive and more convenient passport card that can be used to cross the border.

The new card is intended to be an alternative to a passport book.

And it comes as ports of entry are scheduled to stop accepting verbal answers on if someone is a U.S. citizen.

In June 2009, people will be required to show a passport or equivalent document in order to pass through a port of entry, said Brian Levin, public affairs liaison for Customs and Border Protection.

“It was this Tuesday that we learned from the Department of State that there will be substantial changes to the passport processing procedure effective Feb. 1. So, our office has been scrambling to make sure we are ready for those changes,” said Denise Lundin, clerk of Cochise County Superior Court. (more…)

    U.S.-Mexico

U.S. Soccer and the Mexican federation have seen the value, financial and otherwise, of a high-profile set-to once a year, usually early in the calendar. It’s the one occasion when the pressure of a friendly reaches critical mass — nearly enough to simulate the weight of a match that truly matters.

And that’s why everyone should savor U.S.-Mexico. Any U.S.-Mexico.

So what if the game won’t affect either team’s standing in World Cup qualifying? (more…)

    Cheap Travel Tips For Mexico

Find out where local visitors from within the country stay. The cheapest “tourist hotel” I could find when in a resort town in Mexico was $135. I asked a local businessman where to find a cheap room, and got one for $10. There wasn’t a swimming pool, but the room was spotless. I was there to travel, not to lounge, so this suited me fine. En Guanajuato Mexico

GUANAJUATO, Mexico — Houses painted hot pink, bright orange and cobalt blue tucked into cobbled alleyways too narrow for cars. . Sidewalk cafes, shady plazas and strolling street musicians.

Spain, Italy, France? It would be easy to mistake this university town in the mountains of Central Mexico for a medieval city in Europe. Substitute the easy-on-the-wallet peso for the pricey euro, and nearly year-round springlike weather and you’ve got a bargain travel destination where the U.S. dollar still buys more. (more…)
