Banorte, the third largest bank in Mexico measured by its loan portfolio, said Tuesday its net profit rose 17% in the fourth quarter of 2010, year on year.

Mexico’s state debt stands at 41.5 percent of GDP, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The ratio compares with Russian sovereign debt equivalent to about 11 percent of GDP at the end of 2010, according to a government ruble Eurobond prospectus obtained by Bloomberg in November.
