Matamoros prison brawl leaves 20 dead

Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas (15/OCT/2011) .- A quarrel recorded this morning in the Matamoros prison ends leaving 20 inmates dead and 12 more injured, reported the Ministry of Public Security of the State.

Police said the brawl occurred when two inmates began fighting, the other inmates joining after , culminating with the reported death toll.  (more…)

Pemex revenues increase almost 40% from sales to U.S.

Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) increased their income from U.S. sales of 39.3% in the first eight months of 2011, reported the Department of Commerce.

Pemex had revenues of 26.7 billion between January and August, in relation to the 19.1 billion for the same period in 2010, according to the trade report from PEMEX. (more…)

Global crisis favoring emerging markets

Various financial institutions analysts agreed that after the crisis experienced by the markets in 2008 and the current financial environment dominated by global volatility has led to the transfer of economic power from developed countries to emerging economies.

Mexico’s foreign reserves reach new high: 138 Billion

The international reserves of Mexico reached a new record of 138. billion dollars , compared with an earlier peak of 137. billion recorded on September 30 said Banco de Mexico ( Mexico’s central Bank).

The bank said the weekly increase in foreign reserves of $60 million was the result of change in the valuation of foreign assets and various operations conducted by the institution itself. (more…)
